Clyde Calhoun

Clyde Mathiew Calhoun, age 87, of Rutherfordton died Thursday at White Oak Manor. He was a native of Rutherford County, a retired painting contractor and a member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church. Clyde was preceded in death by his wife Ella Sue Wilkerson Calhoun and his parents Lewis Tilman and Ellie Mae Shephard Calhoun. Left to cherish his memory are a daughter Faye Hassell and her husband Tom of Shelby; a son Carrol Calhoun and his wife Moletia of Rutherfordton; brothers John Calhoun of Rutherfordton and Claude Calhoun of Gastonia ; sisters Velvia Jenkins of Forest City, Sarah Bell of Kings Mountain and Francis Short of Michigan; 8 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 PM Sunday at Mountain Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Honeycutt and Rev. Charles McClure officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Saturday at Crowe’s Mortuary. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County P.O. Box 336 Forest City, NC 28043
