Thomas “Bud” McKelvey, 78, of Rutherfordton, died Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Hospice House. A native of Polk County, he was the son of the late Vick and Ida Wilson McKelvey. Bud was a member of Bear Creek Bible Church, Campobello, SC. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Minnie Harris McKelvey of the home; daughter Missy Marlowe and husband Sam; son Tommy McKelvey and wife Becky; grandchildren Zach McKelvey and Hannah Marlowe; sisters, Christine Scruggs, Pat Edwards, Margaret Bryza, Ruth Philbeck and husband Arnold, Polly Lindsay, Kathy Waldrop and husband Ray; brother, Mike McKelvey and wife Darlene. Memorial services will be held 2PM Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Crowe’s Mortuary with Rev. Reid Cooper, Rev. Jimmy Cooke and Rev. William Swink officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the mortuary. Rev. Buster King, Rev. James Parker and Rev. Steve Price will serve as honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
