Sonja E. Fournier

MASSENA – Sonja E. Fournier, 81 of Laurel Terrace, passed away early Wednesday morning, January 16, 2019 at Canton-Potsdam Hospital.

Sonja was born April 9, 1937 in Ogdensburg, the daughter of the late William and Evelyn Ruth (Ladoceur) Brassard. She was a waitress and bartender working at both the Friendly Tavern and Sprague’s Tavern at one time. She was an avid bingo player at both the Knight of Columbus and St. Mary’s in Massena.

She is survived by her daughters, Sheila Fournier of Massena and Shari and Steven Siewart of Richmond, Virginia; her sons, Kirk Fournier of Kansas; Stanley Fournier of Massena; Kent and Kristy Fournier of Hamburg, NY; and Steve and Pam Fournier of Massena; 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Sonja is also survived by her sisters, Noreen and William Helmer of Massena and Patty and Paul D’Arienzo of Spokane, Washington; her brother, Greg Brassard of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her former husband, Wilfred E. Fournier, Jr. on June 17, 2007 and her grandson, Jaden Fournier.

Friends may call Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM. Burial will be in the spring at Notre Dame Cemetery, Ogdensburg.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Cerebral Palsy Association.
