Joseph Y. Blanchette a Nyack area resident for the past 88 years, passed away on February 14, 2019 at the home he built in Upper Nyack, NY. Joe graduated from Nyack High School in 1947, he served in the US Army as a staff sergeant in WWII. After the war, Joe worked for the Carpenters Union in Rockland County before being employed for 35 years for the Palisades Interstate Park Commission, retiring in 1997. He was a former member of the Nyack Community Ambulance Corps. and was a faithful member of St. Ann’s RC Church in Nyack. Joseph was predeceased by his wife Jane in 2015. He is survived by his daughter Ellen, one granddaughter Deanna and a sister Mary. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday February 18, 2019 at 10 AM at St. Ann’s RC Church in Nyack. Burial will take place at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Haverstraw, NY. A Wake will be held for Joe at the Hannemann Funeral Home, Inc. in Nyack, NY on Sunday from 3PM to 6PM.
