Memorial services for Cornelia Pogany “Connie” Baker, 89, of Mentor, will be at 10 am on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Saint Andrew Episcopal Church, 7989 Little Mountain Road, Kirtland Hills.

Mrs. Baker passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014 at her home.

Born February 22, 1925 in Cleveland, she was raised in Kirtland and lived in Willoughby from 1964-1990 when she moved to Mentor.

She was a member of Saint Andrew Episcopal Church for many years. She was a graduate of Miami University of Ohio, class of 1950, and took additional courses at Lake Erie College in Painesville and Kent State University in Kent. She was a member of the Miami University Alumni Association, the Old South Church Colonial Crafters, Friends of the Willoughby Library, and served as past secretary of the Deepwood Condominium Association.

Mrs. Baker was employed as a teacher at the former Andrews School for Girls in Willoughby for 14 years.

She also worked at the Lubrizol Corporation and Bailey Controls, and part time in the development office at Breckenridge Village in Willoughby from 1987-1991.

Survivors are her daughter, Victoria Baker of Sahuarita, AZ; sisters, Cynthia Pogany of Willoughby and Penelope (William) Moore of Columbus, and brother, John Pogany of Richmond Heights. She also leaves several nieces and nephews and their families, and her beloved cat Sweetie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Pogany, and her brothers, Martin, Robert and Lorant Pogany.

There will be no calling hours at the funeral home.
