George Baksi

George V. Baksi, 94, formerly of Woodlyn, PA and recently the Residence at Glen Riddle in Media, PA passed away on February 10th. Born to the late John and Eva Baksi in Marion Heights, PA, he was predeceased by his six siblings. George will be remembered as a devout Catholic and faithful member of Our Lady of Peace Church. Employed after high school at the mines in the Pennsylvania coal region, he was drafted into the Army, and proudly served in France during WWII. After the war, the GI Bill allowed him to attend college and earn his teaching degree. He was a business teacher at Chester High School, Ridley Park High School, and Ridley High School over a 32 year career. During that time, he earned advanced degrees, worked as a high school basketball referee, and ran a summer playground at Woodlyn Elementary school. He was devoted to his wife of 57 years, the late Leona (nee Strike) Baksi, his children and his grandchildren. An avid exercise enthusiast into his late 80s, he could be found on most mornings walking briskly through Swarthmore or on the college track. He is survived by his four children: Alan Baksi and wife Kathy; Joan Flynn and husband Michael; Jim Baksi and wife Denise; Paul Baksi. Seven grandchildren: Michael (Kate) Flynn Jr., Christine (Brandon) Harper, Patrick Flynn, Tyler Baksi, Colleen Baksi, Justin Baksi, Gregory Kinsey. One great-grandchild: Michael Flynn lll. Funeral Mass: Thursday February 14th at 10:00am, Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Milmont Avenue, Milmont Park, PA. Burial : Ss Peter and Paul Cemetery. Arrangements: Kevin M.
