Mildred L Searfoss

Mildred L. Searfoss, 97, of Centre Hall, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at the Wynwood House in Centre Hall. Born on March 15, 1920, in Flemington, she was the daughter of the late Arthur L. and Flora M. Myers Orner. On February 17, 1938 in Salona, she married Thomas R. Searfoss, Sr. Thomas passed away on November 28, 1993. Mildred was a life member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Centre Hall. In 1996, the church honored her with the “Mother Of The Year” award for her contributions to her family and church. Mildred was a homemaker most of her life. She did work as an office manager at the Centre Hall Mills and worked at Gettig Engineering in Spring Mills. Mildred enjoyed quilting, crocheting, needlework, yard work, crafts, and going for walks. She, along with her husband were very active in their church. They were huge supporters of the youth in the church and helped with many projects. Mildred was always available to give a helping hand to those in need. Mildred is survived by a daughter, Shirley A. Schubert and her husband, James, of Leesburg, FL, son in-law, Warren Dutrow of Beaver Springs, daughter in-law, Georgene Auman Searfoss of Spring Mills, one brother, Sheldon Orner and his wife, Mildred, of Beech Creek, and one sister, Rovena Fenstamaker of Ocala, FL. Also surviving are her eight grandchildren; Vicki Cottrill, Robin Fisher, Randy Searfoss, Wendy Mortimer, Brenda Dutrow, Scott Dutrow, Amy DuBois, and Kathy Auman,11 great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and husband, Mildred was preceded in death by her son, Rev. Thomas R. Searfoss, Jr, two daughters; Mona L. Dutrow and Deanna G. Rockey, one grandson, Jason Rockey, two brothers and four sisters. Family and friends will be received on Monday, June 26, 2017 from 10am until the time of the service at 11am at the Grace United Methodist Church, 127 S. Pennsylvania Ave, Centre Hall, PA. Funeral service will be at 11am at the church with Pastor Theresa Heiser officiating. Burial will follow at the Reformed & Lutheran Cemetery in Centre Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Grace United Methodist Church, 127 S. Pennsylvania Ave, Centre Hall, PA 16828. Arrangements have been entrusted to Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Inc 228 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, PA 16828.
