Ernest Montella

Ernest L. Montella, Sr. of Warrington passed away on Tuesday January 31, 2017. He was 82 years old. He was the Husband of Clara (McCullough) Montella who had shared 61 years of marriage. Ernie was born in Chester, PA and raised in Marcus Hook, PA. He graduated from Eddystone High in 1952. He was a Master Electrician by trade. He also accepted a job at Sun Oil Co. in 1952. His career progressed through the years to become Executive of Marketing for the East Coast. Ernie was a lifelong baseball fan. His favorite team was the Philadelphia Athletics. Upon his retirement in 1991, he and a partner co-founded the Philadelphia Athletics Historical Society in Hatboro, PA. At one time, they had over 500 members, many friends and retired ball players. They kept in touch through the years, even after they closed the shop in 2012. In addition to his wife Clara, Ernie is survived by his four sons: Ernie (Joan), Ken (Geri), Jim (Lorraine) and Lou (Jill). He had 5 Grandchildren: Nicole, Ryan, Corey, Amy and Cole. He also had 3 Great-Grandchildren: Paulo, Gia and Logan. Ernie touched so many lives with his sense of humor and generosity. He will be dearly missed. Ernie’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am, on Monday, February 6, 2017 at Saint Robert Bellarmine Church, 856 Euclid Ave, Warrington, PA where the family will receive friends after 10:00 am until the time of Mass. Interment will follow in St. John Neumann Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to Saint Robert Bellarmine Church.
