Charles H. Eaves, 93, of State Route 10, Cobleskill, NY, passed away Monday, April 9, 2018 at the Cobleskill Regional Hospital. He was born December 20, 1924 in Delta, OH, a son of John F. and Olive Lochbihler Eaves. He grew up in Sherburne, NY. Charles was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. He served in the 17th Airborne Division, 515th Parachute Infantry operating in the European Theater where he fought in the Battle of the Bulge and received a Bronze Star. On September 15, 1945, Charles married Alberta P. Franklin. Charles owned and operated a dairy farm in Oneida, NY until 1970 when he began, Charles H. Eaves and Sons, a bulk transportation trucking company in Cobleskill until retiring in 1994. He served on the Board of Directors at the Bank of Richmondville for 25 years being its Chairman for the last four. In 2013, he was acknowledged by the Leatherstocking Honor Flight group and traveled to Washington, D.C. to visit the WWII and other war memorials. He was a life member of the American Legion Post #2011 in Richmondville, NY; past member of the Holstein-Friesian Association.; charter member and past president/founder of the Oneida-Madison Milk Producers Co-op Association and former member and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Richmondville. Surviving are his wife of over 72 years, Alberta; two daughters Penny (Robert) Junke of Sahuarita, AZ; Hope (James) Olsen of Thousand Oaks, CA; four sons, Chris (Darlene) Eaves of Fultonville, NY; Lance Eaves of Salt Lake City, UT; Patrick (Sue) Eaves of Taipei, Taiwan; and Harvey Eaves of Cobleskill; a brother, Thomas Z. (Audrey) Eaves of Lowville, NY; ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, Jack, Bob, Scott and James Eaves, and three sisters, Virginia Van Vleck, Betty June Geise and Hazel Bohnert. Memorial Services will be held at St. Christopher Episcopal Church at 1:00 on Saturday, April 14, 2018. Interment will be held with military honors at the Cobleskill Cemetery.
