Blacksburg -- Elbert Sonny Moore Sr., 60, of 239 Wendy Drive, passed away Friday, February 28th, 2014, at his residence.

Born in Gaffney, he was married to Bennie Black Moore and was the son of Dorothy Dover Moore of Blacksburg and the late Everette Moore. Mr. Moore loved his family, fishing, and the mountains. He was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his wife and mother, Mr. Moore is survived by two sons, Sonny Moore, Jr. of Blacksburg and Bobby Moore of Patterson Springs, NC; one daughter, Linda Moore Pennington, of Blacksburg; two brothers, Roger Moore of Gastonia, NC and Billy Moore of Blacksburg; five sisters, Shirley Carroll of Earl, NC, Doris Richardson of Blacksburg, Kathy Thornton of Casar, NC, Sandra Cagle of Blacksburg, and Darlene Gregory of Blacksburg; eight grandchildren, Brooke Allison of Inman, Scotty and Travis Moore of Blacksburg, Payton Moore of Blacksburg, Dallas Moore of Patterson Springs, NC, Cameron Pennington of Blacksburg, Erin Pennington of Gaffney, Dawton Blanton of Patterson Springs, NC; and one great-grandchild, Brylee Allison, of Inman, SC.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Everette "Buddy" Moore, Jr.

The family will receive friends March 3rd, 2014 from 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm at Gordon Mortuary. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 pm in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Vernon Craig officiating.

The family will be at the residence.
