John Walker

Blacksburg -- John Raleigh Walker, 84, of Garner Road, passed away Thursday, November 11th, 2010 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born in Shelby, Mr. Walker was the husband of Kathleen Dover Walker and the son of the late Onnie Manson "O.M." Walker, Sr. and Elsie Rachel Wood Walker. He retired as a carpenter for Duke Energy and was a member of Kings Creek Church of God. In addition to his wife, Mr. Walker is survived by four sons, Johnny and Daniel Walker of Blacksburg, Tim Walker of Smyrna, and Billy Griffin of Blacksburg; a daughter, Myra Walker Goodwin of Stanton, KY; three brothers, Ralph and Abraham Walker of Blacksburg and David Walker of Gaffney; three sisters, Geraldine Peeler of Blacksburg, Alma Vann of Clinton, NC, and Nancy Adams of Grover; 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Saturday, November 13th, 2010 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Gordon Mortuary. Graveside services will be held November 14th, at 2:00pm at Grover Cemetery with Rev. Rayce Wolgemuth and Rev. Eddie Sapoch officiating. Memorials may be made to Kings Creek Church of God Building Fund, PO Box 765, Blacksburg, SC 29702. The family will be at their respective homes.
