Corinne Elizabeth Jackson Curtis, 87 of Alexandria, Virginia formerly of Charles Town, Transitioned from a life of labor to a life of reward Saturday, June 13, 2020 in the Manor Care Nursing Home. Born August 10, 1932 in Lady Smith City, Virginia, she was the youngest born to the late Charles Lee Jackson and Goldie Green Jackson. Corinne was a member of the Wainwright Baptist Church. She was part of the first African American girls basketball team at Page Jackson High School. She worked as a nurse’s aide for the Jefferson County Council on Aging, a teacher’s aide and crossing guard at the Ranson Elementary School, a lifetime award recipient and member of the NAACP WV Chapter, served as Deaconist and on the Missionary Ministry, and was a member of the Eastern Stars. She is survived by one son, Jeffery Berry (Carmen) of Charles Town, four daughters, Charlotte Pressley of Alexandria, Virginia; Regina Berry of Clinton, Maryland; Toni Berry and Chiquita Gainey (Robert) both of Fort Washington, Maryland, eighteen grandchildren and twenty-eight great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Peyton Curtis, son James Berry, Jr., daughter Joni Berry, guardian and great granddaughter, Janee’ Crawford; and her siblings, Thomas, Alex, Samuel, Charles, Jr. and Archie Jackson, Helen Creamer, Mary and Arissa Puller. Funeral services will be held 12 p.m. Saturday, June 20, 2020 at the Wainwright Baptist Church with the Reverend Jeffery Berry officiating. Interment will be in the Pleasant View Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Visitors are asked to practice social distancing, wear masks and follow directives.
