HURST -- Vernon Louis Turek, 91, passed away peacefully at his home Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015.

Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan 7, 2016 at First Baptist Church Hurst, 1801 Norwood Dr., Hurst, TX 76054. Interment will be at 1:15 p.m. at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy in Dallas.

Vernon or "Little Vern" as he was affectionately known by family and friends was born on Feb. 3, 1923 in Santa Maria, Calif. Vernon was a Veteran of World War II. He served four years in the Navy and twenty years in the Air Force as a pilot. Major Vernon Turek retired from the Air Force on July 15, 1963. Vernon moved his family from California to Hurst, Texas in 1969. He worked for American Airlines as a Flight Simulator Instructor for twenty-seven years, retiring in 1994. Vernon was preceded in death by his father, Louis Turek, mother, Ruby and brother, David Turek.

Vernon is survived by his wife of 64 years Glenna Fay Turek; son, Ron and his wife Debra,; daughter, Wanda Jackson, and grandchildren, Michael and Steven Turek and Joshua Jackson.
