Obituary
Louise Graves Beatrice Louise Graves was born February 9, 1929 to Louis and Liza Jane (Cockburn) Baker at home in Orient, Texas. She was the middle of five children. She attended school at Tennyson until Tennyson School consolidated with Bronte School. She married her husband, O. B. (Sonny) Graves, on February 17, 1945. Louise and Sonny were blessed with three sons. They lived in San Angelo until the family built their home on the Baker family place in Tennyson, Texas in 1968-1969. She retired from Ethicon in 1993. Louise was a member of Tennyson Baptist Church where she served as secretary/treasurer for many years. Louise loved to sew western shirts for her sons, grandsons, and great grandsons. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, doing various crafts, and being outdoors. She liked watching Tiger Woods play golf and was a diehard Dallas Cowboys football fan. However, the joy of her life was her family, her church, and her faith. She entered heaven suddenly on Dec. 1, 2017, the day after watching her final Cowboys’ victory. Louise is preceded in death by her parents, brothers – Louis Jr, and Wallace, by her sister – Harriet, her husband – Sonny Graves, her oldest son – James (Jimmy) Onis Graves, grandson – James Daniel Graves, and niece – Margie Newcomb. Louise is survived by sons Roger Graves, Jerry Graves and wife Susan Graves, grandchildren – Scott Graves and wife Haley, Larry Graves, Jake Graves and wife Mandy, Dalton Graves and wife Chandra, Kendra and Scott Howell, twelve great-grandchildren, and her brother, Richard Baker. Visitation will be at Shaffer Funeral Home in Bronte on December 5 from 6 - 7. Funeral will be officiated by pastor, David Dunn, at Tennyson Baptist Church on December 6 at 10:00. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great grandsons. Burial will follow at Mule Creek Cemetery in Tennyson where she will be buried between her husband and son.
