Francis Machia

Francis H. Machia Jeffersonville Francis Howard Machia, 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday December 7, 2014 at his home in Jeffersonville. He was born June 22, 1923 in Jeffersonville son of the late Howard and Alice (Stygles) Machia. He married the former Ruth Towne on February 16, 1943 in Jeffersonville. Upon his retirement from the Vermont State Transportation Francis continued working part time for the Town of Cambridge Highway Department. He enjoyed spending time with his family, enjoyed pulling pranks on everyone, hunting, fishing, gardening and watching wildlife. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his two sons Raymond Machia and his wife Rebecca of Waterville; Donald Machia and his wife Sandra of Waterville; his daughter Sandra Fuller and her husband Eugene of Jeffersonville; 8 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; his sister Myrtie Baker; his loving “Kitty Cat”; many friends and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by his wife Ruth, brother Roy and sister Doris Lanphere. The family extends a special thanks to Lamoille Home Health and Hospice and Dr. Miller from Cambridge Family Practice. Visiting hours will be held on Friday December 12, 2014 from 4:00 until the hour of service at 5:00 p.m. with Reverend Mick Comstock officiating at A W Rich Funeral Home – Fairfax Chapel, 1176 Main Street, Fairfax, VT 05454. Inurnment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions in Francis’ memory may be made to Lamoille Home Health and Hospice, 54 Farr Avenue, Morrisville, VT 05661.
