Jane Elwood

Jane E. (Titus) Elwood Essex Junction, VT Jane Elizabeth (Titus) Elwood, 71, passed from the loving arms of her family to Gods waiting arms at FAHC in Burlington, VT on Thursday, August 16th, 2012. She was born in Morrisville, VT on January 8th, 1941 daughter of the late Robert and Phyllis (Thomas) Titus. She graduated from Essex Junction High School in 1959 and from the Fanny Allen School for Practical Nursing in 1985. On December 29th, 1961 she married Arlan Elwood and together they raised five children. She worked in retail in various capacities prior to the nursing profession. She worked at Fanny Allen Hospital after graduating. She was a wonderful homemaker providing for her family. She enjoyed reading a good book, doing crafts, swimming and traveling to the ocean. She is survived by her husband of 50 loving years, Arlan Elwood of Essex Jct., one brother Jack Titus and his wife Judy of Marsing, ID. Her five children Jody and Kevin Heffernan of Essex, Susan Barnes of Essex Jct., Thomas Elwood and his wife Erika of N. Hyde Park, Heidi Taylor and her husband Brian of Binghamton, NY, Lisa Mallabar and her husband Jim of Colchester, 13 Grandchildren Ashley and Tyler Heffernan, Cody Barnes, Heather Flotz, Holly, Amanda, and Tommy Elwood, Damiana and Caitlin Mellen, Melissa Taylor, Justin, Aaron and Cassie Mallabar, 3 Great Grandchildren Amara, Christopher and Matthew Severtson, one brother-in-law Cecil Elwood and wife June of St. Albans. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews including special nieces Frankie Titus and Cynthia Brady...and her special cat Katie. She also leaves behind special friends of many years. Jane was predeceased by her parents Robert Titus and Phyllis Pettengill and her brother Thomas Titus. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday August 21, 2012 from 6:00 - 9:00 pm at A. W. Rich Funeral Home- Essex Chapel, 57 Main Street; Essex Jct., VT 05452. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday August 22, 2012 at 11:00am at Essex Center United Methodist Church with Reverend Mitchell Hay officiating. Burial will follow in the family lot in Mountain View Cemetery, Essex Center.
