Richard Caplinger, age 77 of Seaman, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Hospice of Hope Ohio Valley Inpatient Center. He was born in Adams County, Ohio on October 28, 1937 the son of the late Thomas and Lillian (Alexander) Caplinger. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Annette Caplinger; two brother-in-laws, Don Horne and James Brown; and nephew, Christopher Herdman. He attended Winchester Baptist Church and was a US Army veteran. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Lula (Steiner) Caplinger of Seaman; step son, Michael James of Seaman; step daughters, Renee and Tim Holbrook of New Richmond, Ohio, Melissa Merritt of Seaman, and Carol Sue and Keith Brown of Bainbridge, Ohio; sisters, Mary Herdman of Xenia and Virginia Horne of Oklahoma; 5 step grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 9, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Mt. Calvary Community Church with Steve Bankhead and Charles Caplinger officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery with a military graveside service given by the Adams County Honor Guard. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 5:00 till 7:00 P.M. at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home, Lewis-Sullivan Chapel in Seaman. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Hope, 215 Hughes Blvd. Mt.
