Mr. Clinton McGlothlin, age 88, of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Sunday (October 15, 2017) in a Lebanon, Virginia hospital. Born April 26, 1929 in Rowe, Virginia, he was a son of the late Elbert Patton and Leah Victoria Hale McGlothlin. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a longtime member of Swords Creek Block Church and had more recently attended Bethany Baptist Church. A coal miner with a very strong work ethic, he had formerly owned and operated McGlothlin Coal Company and Greasy Creek Coal Company for many years In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty years, Dorothy Keen McGlothlin, two sons, Gregory Keith McGlothlin and infant son, Eddie Darrell McGlothlin, two brothers, Carson McGlothlin and Nelson McGlothlin, and two sisters, Dorothy VanDyke and Carmie Clark. Survivors include three children, Danny McGlothlin of Honaker, Judy Combs and husband, Ronald of Honaker, and Kim Harris and husband, Thomas of Rosedale; seven grandchildren, Amy McGlothlin, Gregory Brian “Bubba” McGlothlin and wife, Dreama, Casey Combs May and husband, Cody, Josh Combs, Dru-Ann Harris, Ashby Harris, and Silas Harris; great-grandson, Jaden Campbell; one sister, Sylvia VanDyke and husband, Alvie of Honaker; two brothers, Herman McGlothlin and wife, Ruth and Ferrell McGlothlin and wife, Lucille all of Swords Creek; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Vonley Pruitt officiating. Entombment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoluem at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.
