Frederick Yancey

Mr Frederick Lee Yancey, age 72 died peacefully December 27, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loved ones after a long battle with lung cancer. He was the son of the late Ruth Sizemore and Edward Thomas Yancey of Clarksville, VA. Mr. Yancey is survived by his wife of 48 years, Judith Wright Yancey, a son, Herbert Lee Yancey and daughter & son-in-law, Melanie & T.D. Gosney; two dearly loved grandsons, Russell Lee Gosney and Ryan Thomas Gosney. Also surviving are three brothers, Robert Yancey, William Yancy (Donna), and Richard Yancey, and three sisters, Lillian Hughes (Don), Evelyn Brinkley (William) and Linda Holblitz (Dennis), three nephews, nine nieces and two special friends Roy Jones and Earl Smiley. “Freddie” was the owner/operator of Yancey's Shop for years, a hard worker and a well known for his backhoe expertise. He enjoyed listening to his grandson's band, fishing, and spending time outside. He was an avid vegetable gardener who loved sharing his harvest with family & friends. A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 11am, Tuesday, December 30 at Oakwood Cemetery in South Hill. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7-8:30 at Farrar Funeral Home. The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of VA for the TLC that they provided.
